Tecfire Supplies Advanced Steelfire S50/70 EW60 Partitions for the Italian Embassy in Madrid
October 22, 2026

MADRID, SPAIN — Preserving early 20th-century architectural heritage while meeting modern passive fire safety codes requires glazing systems that blend seamlessly into the architecture. Tecfire is proud to announce the successful completion of a landmark project at the Italian Embassy in Madrid, situated within the historic Palacio de Amboage.
Located in one of the Spanish capital’s most exclusive districts, the Palacio de Amboage is a magnificent early 20th-century landmark defined by grand interior volumes, classic colonnades, and rich historical detailing. Adapting such a singular historic building for contemporary institutional use presented a demanding engineering challenge: implementing rigorous fire compartmentation without disrupting the building’s spatial continuity or natural illumination.
Engineering for Heritage: Preserving Palatial Light
Historic palaces are celebrated for their open sightlines and the abundant natural daylight flooding through large interior spaces. Traditional fire safety solutions—such as heavy drywall partitions or thick, opaque barriers—would have compromised the interior aesthetics and segmented the historic layout into dark, confined areas.
To overcome this, Tecfire engineered, manufactured, and supplied its high-performance Steelfire S50/70 EW60 fixed partition system. Designed specifically for sophisticated interior applications where structural elegance and uncompromised safety intersect, the system allows natural light to flow freely from floor to ceiling while maintaining strict passive fire defense.
Technical Excellence: Inside the Steelfire S50/70 EW60 System
The Steelfire S50/70 series is a non-thermal break steel-framed glass system engineered for high-performance architectural applications. For the Italian Embassy project, the system delivered critical technical advantages:
-
Certified Fire Protection (EW60): Provides 60 minutes of certified fire integrity and thermal radiation control, effectively preventing the transmission of flames, hot gases, and radiant heat.
-
Steel Profiles: Designed to minimize frame visibility, maximizing the glazed surface area to maintain transparent visual continuity across historical interiors.
-
Expansive Dimensions: Certified to support floor-to-ceiling spans up to 4,000 mm in height with unlimited width capabilities, matching the grand proportions of the palace.
-
Rigorous Testing & Certification: Fully tested and certified by Applus+ in compliance with European standards EN 1364-1 and EN 13501-2.
-
Bespoke Finishes: Finished in high-performance powder coatings tailored to complement the meticulously restored interior architecture.
When heritage conservation meets strict life-safety compliance, safety should remain invisible. By combining advanced precision engineering with uncompromising aesthetic standards, Tecfire’s Steelfire S50/70 system ensures that the Palacio de Amboage remains protected for future generations while honoring its historic architectural legacy.
