Chicago, IL — October 3, 2025 – Tecfire has successfully completed a major safety installation at a Child Development Center near Chicago, delivering advanced fire-resistive protection while preserving a bright, open environment for children and staff.
The project features Tecfire’s AS85 1-hour fire-rated aluminum window system, strategically placed to separate a central play area from adjacent classrooms and activity spaces. The design provides a critical layer of life safety by compartmentalizing areas in case of fire, while maintaining full visibility between staff and children.
“Child safety was the guiding priority on this project,” said Jeremy Zimmerman, Managing Director at Tecfire. “Our AS85 windows provide the necessary fire protection without creating a closed-off or restrictive atmosphere. Teachers can monitor children easily, and the natural light flow keeps the center warm and welcoming.”
The AS85 Series is engineered to meet stringent U.S. fire codes, combining durability, tested performance, and aesthetic flexibility. The slim-profile aluminum frames allow for larger glass openings, giving architects and designers the freedom to create transparent, secure, and code-compliant learning environments.
By integrating Tecfire’s system, the Child Development Center gained:
-
1-hour fire resistance to safeguard children and staff.
-
Clear sightlines for enhanced supervision across classrooms and play zones.
-
Design harmony, blending seamlessly with the center’s modern, child-focused architecture.
This project reflects Tecfire’s growing role in North America as a trusted partner for fire-rated glazing solutions in educational, healthcare, and commercial facilities. “This marks our fourth project in Illinois alone, and it’s rewarding to see clients gaining confidence in Tecfire as our presence continues to expand across the Midwest, the United States, and Canada,” Zimmerman said.
